How to prepare for the Life in the UK Test

The Life in the UK Test is part of the process for many people applying for British citizenship or settlement. Check the latest official requirements before booking.

Understand the test format

The official test consists of 24 multiple-choice questions, with 45 minutes to complete it. The pass mark is 75%, meaning at least 18 correct answers.

Build a revision routine

Start by studying the topics in the official handbook, then practise short sets of questions. Review each explanation and repeat the subjects you find difficult. As your confidence improves, try timed practice.

Use the official source

Our practice questions are independently written and are not official exam questions. For official booking, eligibility, costs and requirements, visit GOV.UK: Life in the UK Test.

What should you revise?

Cover the UK's history, values, government, laws, culture, traditions and the responsibilities of residents. The site will expand its topic coverage as more questions are verified.
